Marketing on LinkedIn: Intention and Strategy
I woke up this morning to 15 new notifications on LinkedIn. The good news is I’m getting noticed on the platform…the bad news is most of it is spam. If you are an active LinkedIn user then you’ve probably experienced the same thing at one point or another.
Constant requests from people you don’t know (and don’t care to know)…
Relentless messages blowing up your inbox…
Sales funnel spam that’s on autopilot… It’s enough to make you want to pull your hair out.
Making Professional Connections On LinkedIn
Unfortunately, all of the spam on LinkedIn has really given the platform a bad reputation which is a shame because, when used correctly, it’s a wonderful tool for building meaningful connections. The keyword here is meaningful.
At Sapele, we use LinkedIn to build databases for our to help grow their referral sources. Of course, we don’t create the databases at random. Our connections, messaging, and research is conducted with intention and strategy. Before you reach out to make a cold connection on LinkedIn, ask yourself these questions:
- Will this person be a good referral source for my practice?
- Are there any conflicts of interest?
- How am I going to introduce myself?
- What, specifically, will I ask?
- How can I personalize the conversation?
Remember, LinkedIn is just another tool you can use for networking – especially during these virtual times. Having an effective LinkedIn marketing strategy can help you identify new referral sources and connections that generate new leads and practice growth.
If you are a TMS or Ketamine provider thinking about ‘sticking your toe’ in the social media marketing waters, we highly recommend starting with LinkedIn. We know that patients referred to your clinic by other providers yield a much higher closure rate than those not referred by a trusted provider. LinkedIn allows you to make more personal connections, do research, identify referral partners, and build an evergreen database you can use as part of your comprehensive marketing strategy.
