Here we are in the second month of 2024!
It’s the time of year when many people are past the post-holiday slump and getting back to their regular routines, which includes prioritizing mental health. Hopefully, your practice is packed with new patient appointments, and you have a solid waiting list for general psychiatric services.
As we know, psychiatric care in 2024 includes utilizing innovative treatments that can cause transformation for the 30% of people who aren’t helped by standard protocol. As dedicated providers, you understand the transformative impact IV Ketamine and Spravato can have on patients battling treatment-resistant conditions. Many practices looking to promote these services quickly jump into digital marketing and enter a bidding war, trying to create awareness. Thankfully, there are two ways to increase your advanced services immediately:
- Educate and reconnect with Health Care Colleagues
- Create Internal Practice Awareness (Upcoming blog)
You may not be able to get the same patient volume, but you can likely double it with some simple activities to Health Care Colleagues – done regularly. (We call these tactics.)
Five Tactics to Generate Healthcare Referrals
1. Update or develop your healthcare colleague database. Those who refer to you and those who should!
2. Send a direct mail with a practice update to those who are currently referred to you and those to whom you want to introduce yourself.
3. Create a newsletter 3-4 times per year. Include a case study of a patient who benefitted from an advanced service. Painting a picture of the patient’s condition and results gives your colleagues a real-world perspective.
4. Update all of your patient’s network of providers. Every mental health patient has other specialty providers and primary care providers that should know you and your work.
5. Make a phone call twice per year to each colleague that refers to you. (Even if you leave a voice message – it reminds them you are still here and shows the importance of their referral.) Think about the places this discussion can go. Current shared patients, new patients, medical innovations, practice changes… then follow up with a letter and a brochure about your services.
